A few years ago, I noticed a protrusion from my body that occurred intermittently. There was no pain, but there was bleeding. As a student of Christian Science, I knew that my real need was to see such a picture as suggestion, a false claim purporting that man is material and, consequently, vulnerable to deterioration and discord. I also knew, thanks to my spiritual education in Science, that the way to correct the situation was to hold to the counter facts—specific truths about man's real, spiritual nature. It was clear to me that there could never be any disorder in God's universe, created and maintained by Him—the one, perfect Principle —and that this guarantees the integrity of man's being.

The result showed once again the validity of what Christ Jesus proved and Mrs. Eddy explains in her writings: divine truth, understood and accepted, has the authority and power to dispel error, along with its so-called physical effects. I was healed. I think that the entire episode lasted two or three months.

Another healing occurred a year or so earlier. An unexplained swelling affected my ankles. I had no pain. However, the swelling became so pronounced that it was difficult to get my shoes on. The swelling was noticed by my wife and my sister, and also by a friend at work, all of whom expressed their concern.
