I wish to express my enduring gratitude for a permanent healing that occurred when I was a young girl. For a time every winter I was plagued with an acute attack of what appeared to be tonsillitis. I regularly lost two weeks of school, and during that time I was unable to speak or eat properly.

The first few occasions this problem occurred, it was overcome through Christian Science prayer and with a minimum amount of fear on my part or my family's. Gradually, though, as each winter season seemed to usher in a more severe case of the disease, my fear became more pronounced and the healings became slower. During these trial times I put into practice the spiritual truths I had been taught in a Christian Science Sunday School, and my mother often sang hymns with words by Mrs. Eddy from the Christian Science Hymnal to me. I learned more of God and His complete love for His children with each healing, but I needed to prove the permanency of Christian Science healing.

By the fifth year of this recurring problem my mother and I were becoming disheartened at the continued incompleteness of the healing. We saw that the need was for me to claim more fully my birthright as a child of God and to express actively His perfection—to prove that Christian Science heals wholly and completely.
