"Every year during Lent, the powers of the world appear to seek evidence that the events of Good Friday and Easter 'really happened'—perhaps as a condescending gesture designed to make us Christians look less foolish for believing that Jesus rose from the dead .

"Today, as always, for faithful Christians the question is not 'Was the resurrection real?' but 'Is the resurrection real?' .... On that original Easter the first Christians testified that, through Jesus, God had overcome the powers of sin and death; the issue for our time is not 'Did it happen?' but 'Does it happen?' .
