If anyone knows that Christian Science heals and saves...

If anyone knows that Christian Science heals and saves from what afflicts and plagues—physically, morally, emotionally, mentally, and financially—I certainly do. Christian Science has blessed me in all these areas over the past ten years. It has given me an ever-new lease on life and helped me understand the reasons for living.

I grew up with standards that were far from moral; and I went from unhappy child to confused adolescent to desperate and despairing adult. Yet, deep in my heart I wanted to believe that there was something better in this world. I didn't know what that something better was until I found Christian Science—or, rather, it found me.

Prior to that occasion, I spent much of my time wishing I could do away with myself. Then one day, in a laundry, I found a copy of the Sentinel opened to an article. So began my divine adventure. (It had to be an opened Sentinel, by the way, because previously I had refused to read that "religious stuff" in the distribution boxes!) The article quoted the entire definition of God found in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy (p. 587): "God. The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence." My eyes immediately fell upon the seven capitalized synonyms. Here was the most intelligent concept of God ever presented to me, and it truly satisfied the intellect as well as the heart.
