Recently I had an experience that proved to me once more that God's love is with us no matter where we are.

At the time, my husband and I were far from home—halfway around the world in a crowded, tropical city, staying with Christian Scientist friends. Late one evening I went outside on a quick errand. Suddenly a snarling, biting dog attacked me from one side. I turned, and there was a second dog jumping and tearing wherever he could get at me. I was badly bitten a number of times. Immediately I acknowledged my true protection in God's care. When I yelled for help, people came to my rescue, and I was soon able to get back to the house where we were staying.

I realized from the first that not the experience but my response to the experience would determine the outcome. My husband telephoned a Christian Science practitioner and asked her to pray for me. There was fear to be overcome—fear about physical complications and fear of being in unfamiliar surroundings. Also, I mentioned to the practitioner my concern that the wounds be properly cared for. Immediately after hanging up, I felt at peace, knowing that all of these situations would be taken care of.
