Knowing God's love
When we meet pain, fear, or dread,
Ignorance of God's love for us
Is all it really is.
We cry to God
To make Him our acquaintance.
Then the inward learning comes—
Step by step at first,
Till on our knees and brokenhearted
We find the place where angels speak.
Our dragging hearts will be retaught
Until we've never known such joy and peace.
