Before I knew even the slightest thing about...
Before I knew even the slightest thing about it, Christian Science did a great thing for me.
My father was a locomotive engineer, and one time, during a serious train accident, he was severely injured. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, and there he stayed for more than a year before he could be transported to a large hospital, where he was treated by a well-known surgeon. After some time my mother received word that things looked very bad for Father; gangrene had set in in one leg, so it would have to be amputated at once. My father refused decidedly.
Even though he was told that without an operation he would only live forty-eight hours at the most, he signed a statement relieving the hospital of responsibility and asked to be taken home.
