What we see depends not so much on where we happen to be standing as on how high we've risen in thought. In other words, our view doesn't depend on the circumstances of our human experience but on our view point. When we look out from the height of spiritual inspiration we see a different world.
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, who discovered and founded Christian Science, gives an illustration of the enormous difference viewpoint can make. Comparing several passages in the Psalms, she writes, "The Hebrew bard, swayed by mortal thoughts, thus swept his lyre with saddening strains on human existence:
