I'm really glad that I can tell you about what I learned not...

I'm really glad that I can tell you about what I learned not long ago. I'm eleven years old and have attended the Christian Science Sunday School since I was little. Most of the time I feel happy. Once in a while when there seems to be something wrong with me, Mom and Dad pray for me. But this time Mom asked me to pray for myself. (Of course, she helped me.) Well, listen to what happened.

It was on a Monday morning. I went with my class from school to take our bicycle license exam. The day before, I'd gone over all the traffic rules and thought about everything our teacher had told us.

At the training ground the policeman explained what we had to do. I sat there thinking that because I was a good student and I usually did well on my exams and most of my classmates were fond of me, I would do just great on this examination. But of course this attitude was wrong! My confidence was self-centered. As I rode my bike, I made one mistake after another until I had made fifteen mistakes altogether! In the classroom the policeman told each one of us what we'd done wrong and then gave each of the pupils who'd passed the examination his cyclist's license.
