Going God's way

"I did it My Way!" J. Revaux, C. Francois, and Paul Anka, "My Way."

This lyric from a popular song is the declaration of an individualist, one who worked things out independently. But it can also point to the reason things sometimes go awry. Then one may look back on an action with remorse, even with shame, and hindsight says ruefully: "Yes, I was quick to do it my way, and look at the results. I let human will step in, when I should have prayed and waited on God to show me His way."

The right thinker soon learns that if you give the human will an inch, it will turn into a ruler. A friend once gave me this sage instruction: "Everything you've ever seen attributed to Satan has been done by the human will, and I don't think it's too much to say that it's the only devil you'll ever meet."
