Always worthy of His grace

Do we sometimes feel we are not worthy of God's grace, His blessing? The Bible assures us that God is "of purer eyes than to behold evil" and cannot "look on iniquity." Hab. 1:13. So if immorality has tainted our lives, or we have indulged in hate, vengeance, self-will, selfishness—does that mean we're lost forever to God?

No—no—no! Man, God's beloved likeness—our true selfhood—is never lost. On the human scene, we may seem to ourselves to be lost. We may feel we are being punished by God and think we deserve punishment. We may feel we are too unworthy even to reach out to God for forgiveness. But this isn't the way we really are. It isn't God's message to us. An Old Testament prophet brings us these words of God: "I am the Lord; and there is none else. ... A just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me." Isa. 45:18, 21. There is no other one, no other hope to turn to. He is Saviour!

He gave us His Son, Christ Jesus, to show us the way to overcome earthly temptation. And He gave us another Comforter, divine Science, to unfold to us in our present state of consciousness the higher sense of Christianity that knows God as the All-in-all.
