I was brought up in Christian Science and was...
I was brought up in Christian Science and was taught to rely on God's care. My husband was raised in another denomination. Because I loved the teachings of this Science, which had helped me feel close to God, I wanted our children to be brought up in Science also. My husband agreed to this. So when they were small, our children were enrolled in a Christian Science Sunday School, where they too learned to rely on God for healing.
As years went by I felt an increasing resistance to Christian Science from my husband, even though he had received healings through Science at different times. Finally, after ten years of marriage, there were irreconcilable differences. He decided to leave. When he moved out of our home, I called a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer and was strengthened by this help.
Since my husband seemed content with his decision to live apart and had become interested in someone else, we proceeded with a divorce, which eventually became final. Yet I never really doubted that ultimately the situation could be resolved in a more harmonious way.
