Christian Science was presented to me a little...

Christian Science was presented to me a little over three years ago. At that point, for the first time in my life, I was interested in religion. But even though I read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, I soon lost interest in Science, for I did not understand it.

Then, in September the following year, pain in the corner of one of my eyes persisted. So I consulted an ophthalmologist. He diagnosed a cyst and prescribed a type of medical treatment for me, predicting the necessity of an operation in the coming days.

I was upset when I left this doctor's office, so I went to see another specialist. But after examining me, he gave the same diagnosis. Later, following ten days of medical treatment and further examinations, the second ophthalmologist told me that an operation seemed inevitable as three new cysts had appeared on the other eye. Upon leaving his office that day, I decided to turn entirely to Christian Science for healing. I stopped the medical treatment immediately and then contacted a Christian Science practitioner for help through prayer. Soon after, I read (and reread) a testimony from a copy of The Herald of Christian Science (French Edition) in which a young man told of being healed in Christian Science of a tumor under his eye. I also recalled these well-known words of Martin Luther that Mrs. Eddy quotes on page 268 of Science and Health: "Here I stand. I can do no otherwise; so help me God! Amen!"
