Welcome Truth's stirring effects!

Truth is God, the only creator, unopposed good. Divine Truth has no changeable element, no imperfection or evil. So Truth and its idea—God and His likeness—never change. And the unchangeable likeness of God is spiritual man, the true identity of each of us.

The effect of a truthful understanding of God and man on humanity, however, is to produce changes, destroying belief in evil and awakening men and women to their true nature as God's harmonious likeness. Humanity perceives Truth through Christ, God's message to men. Christ was exemplified by Christ Jesus. And Christ continues to heal mankind today. This saving presence is explained in the teachings of Christian Science, which reveals the divine law that Jesus taught and practiced. The Discoverer of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy, writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "The effect of this Science is to stir the human mind to a change of base, on which it may yield to the harmony of the divine Mind."^{Science and Health, p. 162.}

Who wouldn't welcome such effects of Truth as came to those who experienced Christian healing through the work of the master Christian, Jesus! The Scriptural accounts of his healing work so impress us with their immediacy that we join in the wonder and gratitude of those who were healed. These healings had long-range effects, too. For instance, the demented man of Gadara, who was restored to normalcy after longtime banishment from society (see Luke 8:26-39), and Mary of Magdala, "out of whom went seven devils" (Luke 8:2), both experienced a thorough alteration of character and life style; they were figuratively reborn.
