It is with a grateful heart that I give this testimony

It is with a grateful heart that I give this testimony. As a young girl I attended a Protestant Sunday School. I particularly enjoyed going to the church services and developed at an early age a love for the things of God.

When I was a young adult both my parents passed on while under medical treatment. They had both had serious illnesses as young people. With the loss of my parents, my life seemed to lack a great deal. Friendships, contact with family members, and a professional position with a government agency did not satisfy all my needs. In my yearning I turned to my love of God and began investigating different denominations and religious groups.

One day while out of the office on a lunch break, I noticed a Christian Science Reading Room and decided to go in. The librarian there expressed a peace and joy that made me feel happy, loved. Soon after my visit I attended services at the local branch Church of Christ, Scientist. During a later visit to the Reading Room, the attendant (not the librarian this time) explained more of Christian Science to me. One thing she said was that while Christian Scientists cherish and love their human parents, they recognize God as the one true Father and Mother of all. This helped me quite a bit. Still, periods of depression and anxiety persisted, and after two and a half years of government service, I terminated my position and returned to the part of the country where some of my family lived.
