God's promise of consolation

"In the spirit of Christ's charity,—as one who 'hopeth all things, endureth all things,' and is joyful to bear consolation to the sorrowing and healing to the sick,—she commits these pages to honest seekers for Truth." Science and Health, p. xii.

This is the last paragraph of the Preface to Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Students of this wonderful revelation of Truth have discovered through their experiences that for every thought, every false belief, which seems to come from the carnal mind—the supposed opposite of the infinite Mind, God—there is a perfect answer emanating from this divine Mind. God's ideas perpetually provide consolation and compensation. When discerned, they destroy whatever would falsely claim to deprive one of that peace which rightly belongs to the child of God.

Referring to St. John's vision of "a new heaven and a new earth" (Rev. 21:1), Science and Health says: "Accompanying this scientific consciousness was another revelation, even the declaration from heaven, supreme harmony, that God, the divine Principle of harmony, is ever with men, and they are His people. Thus man was no longer regarded as a miserable sinner, but as the blessed child of God." Further on in the same paragraph we read this consoling passage: "Take heart, dear sufferer, for this reality of being will surely appear sometime and in some way. There will be no more pain, and all tears will be wiped away. When you read this, remember Jesus' words, 'The kingdom of God is within you.' This spiritual consciousness is therefore a present possibility." Ibid., pp. 573–574.
