As a lifelong Christian Scientist, I think it is time I express my gratitude for this beautiful, practical religion. Christian Science is my way of life; the truth of God it explains has guided and guarded me over many rough spots. Two experiences in particular still lift my spirit whenever I recall them.

A few years after my father passed on, my brother went to Europe on a business trip, leaving me in charge of our family-operated company. Never before had I made decisions for the business on my own. A few days after my brother left, we received a cable from a good overseas customer. He was asking about an order he should have received by then. I looked everywhere, including among a pile of papers on my brother's desk, for the original order. But I met with no success and I suddenly became rather frantic. Then I realized that I needed to calm down. So that evening I thoroughly studied the weekly Bible Lesson outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly. The subject was "Man." As I pondered the lesson's Bible passages and the statements from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy in relation to my situation, I felt much comforted.

The next day I again went through the papers on my brother's desk. This time I found the order. But it showed just a list of digits. I realized that my brother had probably put the order aside, intending to find out what the digits meant, but then had forgotten about the order altogether!
