Retiring to a new career
Many people are retiring from active careers at an earlier age than they used to. But the thought of retirement is not always a pleasant one. For some it means economic uncertainty; for others it raises questions about aging and how to cope; for still others it presents the prospect of being alone, of feeling discouragement or despair.
Where does one turn? The Bible provides an excellent starting point. Take, for instance, what the Apostle Paul has to say in his Epistle to the Colossians: "Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him." Col. 3:9, 10.
Christian Scientists are striving each day to gain a better understanding of this "new man" Paul refers to. They are learning, step by step, through their study of the Bible and the writings of Mrs. Eddy that Paul's new man is the perfect, spiritual man of God's creating, the man that Christ Jesus presented.
