Despite more than a year of intermittent prayerful help from faithful Christian Science practitioners along with my own study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings, at one time I could not seem to see any progress toward healing. (The problem was one of increasing lameness in my legs and lower back accompanied by almost constant pain.) Yet I knew I didn't have to—and mustn't—give in to discouragement. I knew, too, the importance of being alert to spiritual intuition, whereby we hear, or spiritually understand, God's Word and find answers to our prayers.
In the spring of 1979 I acted on a thought that kept coming to me to call on a certain Christian Science practitioner with whom I had once had brief contact and who lived in a city several hundred miles away. My husband agreed to drive me to see him. When we arrived, even though I didn't have an appointment, the practitioner agreed to see me within the hour.
