Learning and loving God's will

We can have wonderful release from tension or stress and from making mistakes when we stay awake to the truth that because we are actually God's immortal idea, His loving will is uninterruptedly, moment by moment, governing us rightly. Also, because we are His individual expression, we are not self-willed mortals with mental doors closed to His plan and purpose. These glorious facts of man's being are established in Christian Science. And this Science is coordinate with the account in the Bible of God's will that man be created in His own likeness.

The divine will is good, only good, all-powerful. When we listen and obey it, it leads us into footsteps we might not have thought of, prevents us from doing things we mistakenly thought were right, and relieves us of uncertainties. Many times in retrospect we thank God fervently for the revelation of His plan, which is always guiding us, but the rightness and blessings of which we hadn't foreseen. We will recognize God's design when we want its fulfillment more than anything else.

Self-will, which believes in another power—a power in mortal consciousness—must yield so that we can see and know what God's will is—for us and for all that concerns us.
