"The water of life"
"The Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Rev.22:17.
This Bible verse sprang to life for me while I was spending three weeks with the pastoral Gabbra tribe of northern Kenya. My physical comforts and personal needs suddenly seemed insignificant and even self-indulgent when I considered their plight under the severe drought in that area. I realized how vitally my prayers were needed and how rarely I had looked beyond myself to face global issues. This was a crucial opportunity for me to learn how to pray about a specific need in the world.
When I first arrived at Kalacha, the village where I hoped to accomplish some artwork, I was amazed at the hardships the Gabbra were facing. How anyone could possibly live in that desert was beyond me. The land looked too dry for anyone, person or animal, to survive. With further investigation I found out about their situation.
