She's my "brother"!
A man once chided his wife because she let his sister occupy her time with tales of woe. "You don't need to," he said, "just because she is my sister."
His wife replied, "I need to, not because she's your sister, but because she's my 'brother'!"
A smile flashed between them: his indicated an understanding that he knew his wife strove to be obedient to the biblical command "that he who loveth God love his brother also." I John 4:21. The wife's smile quickly faded as she thought, "Why need I listen to her rehearsals of sickness, slights, sorrow? Am I my brother's keeper?"
