Increasing our faith

There is today, as there was centuries ago, a great need in the world for stronger faith in God's power to heal and save. Even the disciples of long ago felt this need, for they said to Christ Jesus, "Increase our faith." Luke 17:5.

Faith is the realization that no good thing is impossible to God, divine Mind, or to His perfect likeness, man, and that this can be proved in human experience. The Psalmist's awareness of and faith in the mighty power of God caused him to sing, "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Ps. 37:5.

Abraham had faith that God can be trusted and obeyed in the greatest extremity, and he went forward unwaveringly. Through confident assurance of God's power, David prevailed over the Philistine. The Shunammite had such trust in the healing might of Deity as demonstrated by Elisha that she left her lifeless son and went for the prophet, who came and restored him. Scriptural accounts of Christ Jesus' healing ministry show his comprehension, above that of all others, of God's power and presence, and his supreme faith in the Father.
