Each healing in Christian Science is different in some respect from every other one. I've had a number of healings that came in a flash of inspiration; others come through a more gradual spiritualization of thought. Recently I had a healing through deep conviction in the truth Christ Jesus taught.

One evening last year my employer came to my home to help me install some electronic equipment. He brought his gentle German shepherd dog with him. As they entered my house, my loved cat suddenly came upon them and started to make angry noises. So I decided to move her to a place where she might not feel threatened. As I carried her across the room, she flipped around, grabbed up toward my face and got her claws hooked in my mouth.

After I got her claws unhooked and put her down, I discovered that my mouth wasn't injured but that she had bitten my hand, and there was quite a deep wound. I then wrapped the hand in a towel and continued with what I'd been doing. I tried to get through the evening as best I could—eating dinner and helping with the electronic equipment—even though I was in a slight state of shock.
