I have been a Christian Scientist for only about twelve years
I have been a Christian Scientist for only about twelve years. When I first began attending a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, I was experiencing fainting spells. But as I learned how to pray for myself, when I felt faint I would often declare (Deut. 33:27), "The eternal God is [my] refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms." Gradually I lost all fear. I don't know when the spells stopped; I just realized one day I don't know when the spells stopped; I just realized one day that I was no longer having them, and they never recurred.
Not long ago I noticed symptoms of intestinal bleeding that continued for a few weeks. During that time I prayed, and studied the Bible, and the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I also listened to cassette tapes produced by The Christian Science Publishing Society. It was comforting to affirm the truth of this sentence in the textbook (p. 151): "The blood, heart, lungs, brain, etc., havenothing to do with Life, God." Also of great help was this statement in Science and Health (p. 463): "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive."
One day when things appeared to be bad, I went into my study and put on a tape from the Publishing Society and sat quietly. Then the thought came to me, It is done; there is a complete healing. This proved to be the case, for soon the bleeding stopped and I was well.
