At one time, the "material streams" to me were the human avenues...
When all material streams are dried,
Thy fullness is the same;
May I with this be satisfied,
And glory in Thy name.
(Christian Science Hymnal, No. 224)
At one time, the "material streams" to me were the human avenues my husband and I had pursued in our efforts to adopt a child. We had been told that because of abortion, birth control, and the fact that more unwed mothers were keeping their children, there were fewer babies to adopt than in times past. But our loving Father-Mother God knows no lack or shortages. His "fullness is the same," as the hymn says. We had had a family member helping us through prayer concerning this situation. Later we asked a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful treatment. The thought he shared that impressed me most was "Be expectant of good alone."
