What a joy and privilege it is to attend my yearly Christian Science...
What a joy and privilege it is to attend my yearly Christian Science Students Association meeting. Not only is one's spiritual sense strengthened, but the teacher alerts those assembled to beliefs of world thought that need attention and correction through prayer. There is indeed work for us all to do!
One year, the very day after I returned from an especially uplifting association meeting, I was faced with a need to prove that Christian Science does heal—quickly and permanently. I was lifting a shelf when it slipped from my hands. The narrow end landed heavily on a toe protruding from my open-toed sandals. On examination, I discovered that the toenail and toe were deeply cut. Declaring that God's idea, man, had not been touched by any claim of matter, I walked as best I could. In fact, I was able to carry out a duty at my branch church that evening. During the following days I was filled with awe and gratitude as a most beautiful healing took place. I have no doubt that it is God "who healeth all thy diseases" (Ps. 103:3), and that this perfect and permanent healing came through obedience to His eternal laws of Truth.
We should give thanks for opportunities to prove the truths of Christian Science, which reveal the perfection of God's man as he really is—as Christ Jesus saw him. I love to dwell on Jesus' method of regarding man (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, pp. 476-477): "Jesus beheld in Science the perfect man, who appeared to him where sinning mortal man appears to mortals. In this perfect man the Saviour saw God's own likeness, and this correct view of man healed the sick." We can indeed look right through material sense testimony to recognize the perfect spiritual idea God has created.
