Strength comes from God

Is the source of man's strength a physical body—a strong constitution inherited from his ancestors? Or is strength something developed over a period of time by living a good life, eating properly, and exercising? Is it a quality primarily for younger people?

There is a passage in Psalms that says, "The Lord is the strength of my life." Ps. 27:1. It can, therefore, be inferred that strength, spiritually considered, has nothing to do with the human body. Strength is one of God's attributes that man reflects as His spiritual image and likeness. We reflect this strength to the degree we consciously express God by claiming our sonship with Him and living it.

"To live so as to keep human consciousness in constant relation with the divine, the spiritual, and the eternal, is to individualize infinite power; and this is Christian Science," The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 160. states the Discoverer of this Science, Mrs. Eddy. When we live in obedience to God's commandments, given in the Bible and spiritually explained in Mrs. Eddy's book Science and Health, we gain strength—physically, morally, spiritually. Through prayer and study of these two books, we can all come to understand and demonstrate man's natural God-given vigor.
