Promises that are kept
The divine promises scattered throughout the Scriptures have great power, because underlying every promise is the Christianly scientific fact of the allness of God, the supremacy and omnipotence of good.
In II Peter, the apostle assures us that through God's power "are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises." II Pet. 1:4. And throughout the Bible we are assured that God's promises are kept. However, to bring their power into our lives requires our active participation. The book of Psalms declares: "Trust in the Lord, and do good.... Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass." Ps. 37:3-5.
Let's consider some of these wonderful promises and the participation that calls for understanding, not merely believing—and that calls for obedience to God's commandments, not merely profession of faith.
