In 1948, when we were living in London, my husband and I were invited by an Englishwoman to attend a Christian Science church service. After the service we were offered a free copy of the Sentinel to take home. My husband did not show interest in reading the Sentinel, but I was greatly impressed by the articles as well as the testimonies of healings. At that time, however, we were members of another denomination, and I had no interest in joining a Christian Science church.

On my return to Nigeria, in the early 1960's I worked in Lagos. On my bus route to work every day, I passed a signboard indicating that Christian Science church services took place on those premises. I noted this but did not make up my mind to go inside. Then, in 1968 when I was unemployed, it occurred to me that Christian Science could help me—I remembered the testimonies I had read in the Sentinel in 1948. (I had just reached the age of compulsory retirement and did not know what to do next.)

That Sunday morning I attended my first Christian Science service in Nigeria and was warmly received by the members. I always feel happy knowing that it was a right step I took that day. After that there was no cause for going back to my former religion.
