I was raised in Christian Science, and I have always enjoyed...
I was raised in Christian Science, and I have always enjoyed learning about God. But I can remember that while in Sunday School I didn't really understand how to apply Christian Science for physical healing in my life. Yet I was able to practice it in my schoolwork, in relationships, and in situations involving supply. I knew that Christian Science does heal physical difficulties and so persisted in my study of Science, to learn more of God.
About a year ago, one morning when I got up, I had trouble standing and remaining conscious. One of my first thoughts was to calm myself, so I lay down on the floor. I soon found myself grasping the leg of a little stool nearby, as if doing this would help keep me from blacking out. While I pondered my situation, this sentence from the Christian Science textbook came to mind (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 261): "Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true, and you will bring these into your experience proportionably to their occupancy of your thoughts."
I thought to myself how much better it would be to depend on the spiritual truths from God to sustain me than to physically hold fast to the leg of that little stool. After this, my consciousness seemed flooded with just the spiritual truths I needed. Some of the problems I was struggling with were fear of being alone without human help, not having eaten much for several days, and a bad case of sunburn.
