This written expression of gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science...

This written expression of gratitude for the teachings of Christian Science is long overdue. During my young adult years, I searched down various material paths to find peace and happiness and some reason for living. Eventually, through the earnest desire for something better, I found Christian Science. When I did, I read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, from beginning to end. Immediately my life, my thinking, began to change. Wonderful improvements occurred. Friends even made comments as to my change in behavior and appearance. For months I was literally living "in the clouds"; I felt so strongly God's love everywhere. I really began to live. This all occurred more than thirty-five years ago.

We have raised a wonderful son and daughter in Christian Science. Although my husband is not a Christian Scientist, he completely supported my bringing up the children with this teaching. Neither child ever had medicine of any kind, and each year they proudly brought home their certificates of perfect attendance at school. So-called childhood diseases, if they came up, were very quickly healed.

Our son, at quite a young age, had an unpleasant skin disease. I earnestly tried to see him in Science as the child of God, spiritual and pure, but there didn't seem to be much progress. When he was about to enter first grade, I became very concerned as to what the teachers might say when they saw the condition. About this same time I took class instruction in Christian Science. I was so uplifted by this experience and returned home so convinced of God's healing power and love for all his children that I was completely free from any fear whatsoever for the boy. The skin disease disappeared before our son's first day at school, and it has never returned. He is a handsome young man today without a blemish or scar.
