The Christ is our Saviour

Many people today—people who may know little or nothing of Christian Science—often wonder if Christian Scientists really accept Christ Jesus as their Saviour. Well, they do; they are Christians. And with the numerous challenges facing mankind, isn't the big need of the hour for each of us to gain each day a better understanding of Christ Jesus and his mission as the Messiah? How do we do this?

By studying with greater depth and perception what Jesus said and did. And then living it. The Master once said, "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:9. Through his teachings and his healing ministry, as recorded in the Bible, Jesus today continues to be "the door" to the kingdom of heaven.

Just what is the Christ that Jesus exemplified and came in fulfillment of? Christ is God's eternal Word in action, as taught and lived by Jesus. Coming to know Christ means understanding more clearly, as Jesus did, that life is in God, Spirit, and not in matter. It means praying as Jesus admonished us all to do. It means seeing what man really is. And what is he? In Christian Science he is seen as the image and likeness of God, who is infinite Spirit, indestructible Life, as the Bible teaches.
