A healing concerning human relationships occurred when I was employed as a teacher for the United States Armed Forces. This has meant a great deal to me, for it showed the power of right thinking to counteract and, actually, to annul any effect from animosity and false accusation.

As school librarian, it was my duty to count and report to a supply officer the number of books in the library at the beginning and end of the school year. It was stressed that the accuracy of these counts and minimum loss during the year were basic to my rating and continued employment.

Before counting the books at the end of one school year, I prayed as we are taught to do in Christian Science to see myself as under the control of the one divine Mind, God. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, states (p. 275), "All substance, intelligence, wisdom, being, immortality, cause, and effect belong to God." Also, on page 184 we read, "Controlled by the divine intelligence, man is harmonious and eternal." In considering these statements, I realized that because divine intelligence, Mind, is perfect and complete, there can be no error, no negligence, no confusion. I also endeavored to cast out of thought every bit of self-righteousness as well as fear. I knew from past healing experiences that "divine Love corrects and governs man" (ibid., p. 6). Then I made the count of the books and reported the number. There was complete peace and confidence in my thought.
