Several years ago we purchased some property. After living there in a trailer for a couple of years, we started building our house.

It was then I realized that I was afraid of heights. We hadn't yet had the dirt filled in around the basement. The only access to the main floor, where my help was needed, was by a sturdy walkway.

Whenever I was on this walkway I wanted to drop to my knees and crawl across it. Sometimes I had to stop halfway and back off. Again and again I affirmed God's loving presence—guiding and protecting me from the danger that seemed real in thought. These words from the Christian Science Hymnal were very helpful to me (No. 267):
