Can you squeeze a sunbeam?
Can you catch a sunbeam in your hand and squeeze it? Try it next time the sun shines. You'll find that you can't catch a sunbeam or hurt it. To change the sunbeam coming from the sun, you would first have to change its source—the sun itself.
You are like the sunbeam. As the light and warmth of the sunbeam come from the sun, so your life and warmth and joy come from God.
Mrs. Eddy explains in Science and Health, "Man is not God, but like a ray of light which comes from the sun, man, the outcome of God, reflects God." Science and Health, p. 250. That is why you cannot, ever, be touched by sin or disease or accident. Not really. Your source, God, can't be touched by evil, so you, His ray, can't be. You can reflect only what God is, and the Bible and Christian Science tell us what that is—Love.
