Learning what is spiritually good
How do we know what is truly beneficial? Do we interpret good solely in terms of material comfort or personal convenience? Or do we see true good as the reflection of God, Spirit, and willingly learn the lessons that enable us to demonstrate divine goodness in our lives?
As the Psalmist puts it, "The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works." Ps. 145:9. But does this imply that God's goodness is limited to providing agreeable material conditions? God's unbounded love certainly is the source of all the harmony we see in human existence. But what is truly good is God Himself— Spirit, not matter—and this fact needs to be proved through spiritual growth.
Our need is always for a clearer understanding of God and for the spiritual regeneration that heals. Truth is infinite divine intelligence, timelessly unfolding, ever new. We can demonstrate this fact as we become willing to let the law of divine Mind, God, reveal what we most need to know in order to progress.
