Christ silences aggressive suggestion
Every individual who commits himself to membership in The Mother Church is opening a door to some very special blessings. He is adding significantly to his developing spiritual foundation.
He has also accepted a number of specific obligations that will have the effect of sheltering and strengthening him. One of them is found under the heading "Alertness to Duty" in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy. This By-Law requires each member "to defend himself daily against aggressive mental suggestion..." (Art. VIII, Sect. 6).
As we broaden our grasp of the teachings of Christian Science we see more fully the nature of "suggestion." At first we may recognize that the temptation to be unkind or to be untruthful or to be immoral is "aggressive mental suggestion." But the more we understand the essence of evil, the more we see that even acts of unkindness, untruthfulness, immorality, can be described accurately as aggressive mental suggestion.
