One day while sky diving with friends, I had an extremely hard landing, using a new parachute. Unwilling to accept this as a satisfactory landing, I repacked the same parachute and reboarded to jump a second time. Again, I experienced a very hard landing. These two landings left me with a painful lower back condition. Other sky divers, noticing my difficulty in moving, expressed concern that I might have broken something. At this, I silently declared that man, as God's idea, is always free and perfect and therefore cannot be harmed. However, a week later, despite steadfast prayer, I still was in constant pain and had sleepless nights. Now I recognized the need for additional help. A Christian Science practitioner was called, and together we worked to awake more fully to God's unerring love.

One evening as I was studying and praying, the thought came to me that I was still believing it was possible to experience a separation or break. Immediately, this erroneous thought was countered with the realization that there can be no separation or breakage in the unity of God and man. At that instant I knew I was healed. I was able to sleep peacefully that night, and I woke up the next morning completely free of pain.

Subsequent sky dives, using even sophisticated parachutes, have all been completed with gentle landings, and I've had a growing appreciation of Mrs. Eddy's words (Science and Health, p. 151), "All that really exists is the divine Mind and its idea, and in this Mind the entire being is found harmonious and eternal."
