Coming to Christ

It's a very comforting and very special feeling to know that as we cultivate spiritual sense the Christ, Truth, comes to us today. Jesus illustrated how the Christ touches people's lives. It touches our lives now. It surfaces within consciousness to reassure us, to give us confidence, to heal and sustain us. Wherever we are and under whatever conditions, the Christ is available to reach us and rescue us. This is one of the wonderful facts about the Christ. We finally drop our resistance to it, our doubts about it. We cannot ultimately escape the Christ.

But what about our desire to respond to the Christ—to let it more fully transform our consciousness? Approaching the Christ in this sense is a humbling and beautiful experience. The individual who is prepared to increase his spirituality, to sharpen his receptivity and gratitude, can approach the Christ; he can strengthen his response to the divine influence always present in consciousness.

In effect, one is responding to the invitation Christ Jesus offered all mankind: "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matt. 11:28-30.
