My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded
My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded. I've had so many proofs of God's healing presence. One day while our youngest daughter was swimming near the shore, she received a small wound in her foot from broken glass. The cut was cleansed and bandaged. But a few days later she complained that the foot was still sore. There were other symptoms too, which I, as a former medical nurse, felt were similar to those of tetanus.
After sending Ruth to bed, I took my copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, opened it at random, and read (p. 283): "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action." To me this was a healing message from God. I phoned a friend, who is a Christian Science practitioner, and she said she would pray for our daughter. She also encouraged me to hold on to the message I had read in Science and Health, and also to know that "there is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear" (I John 4:18). All through the night I prayed and pondered these great spiritual truths.
Early in the morning I went to my daughter's room and found she had just wakened. She smiled, said she had slept fairly well, and that apart from a bad taste in her mouth, she was feeling better. The bad taste soon disappeared. She got up and had breakfast; all traces of stiffness were gone. Not long after that the wound was healed and she was entirely free. I was overjoyed.
