The road to Emmaus
Picture it...
They heard the stone was rolled away
and all grave linen shed.
Confusion plus conflicting news,
"Is our Redeemer dead?"
Alone on that road, they wondered if
the testimony lied—
astonishment and disbelief
debating side by side.
Unfocused eyes were holden from
Christ Jesus, who'd drawn near.
Unrecognized? Incognito?
Just hidden by their fear.
Picture us...
Hard thoughts removed with grace,
self resurrected and renewed—
a phoenix from sin's ashes.
God's loved son is viewed.
Are pictures still deceiving?
Mired in error's claim?
Do we turn from the good news
the angels would proclaim?
But Truth asks recognition from
those hearts slow to believe.
Immortal Christ is present now.
We lift our "eyes,"
Perceive...
