Accept the risen Saviour!

The Christian world has long stood in awe of the selfless love and willing sacrifice of Christ Jesus in the crucifixion. His whole ministry constitutes the supreme example of unquenchable love, pure affection, mighty tenderness, unselfed shepherding. He really loved humanity.

The gratitude of Christian Scientists for his incomparable lifework finds moving expression in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures where Mary Baker Eddy writes: "While we adore Jesus, and the heart overflows with gratitude for what he did for mortals,—treading alone his loving pathway up to the throne of glory, in speechless agony exploring the way for us,—yet Jesus spares us not one individual experience, if we follow his commands faithfully; and all have the cup of sorrowful effort to drink in proportion to their demonstration of his love, till all are redeemed through divine Love." Science and Health, p. 26.

Thus, to Christian Scientists, the magnitude of our Saviour's mission extends beyond his unselfed sacrificial submission to the woe and cruelty of the cross, to the sublime significance for our own lives of his resurrection. His reappearance in the flesh to his disciples proved the power of divine Love, Life, and Truth utterly to overcome violence and death—a literal confirmation of the words of the Scriptures: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." Ps. 23:4. It revealed the way of salvation.
