At one time my mother was taken to the hospital with a severe case of diabetes and given no hope for recovery. When she heard the prediction, she asked to be brought home and given Christian Science treatment. In two weeks she was up and outdoors, doing her normal chores. The diabetes was completely healed. She lived for many years after, tending to her own affairs and in perfect health. It was remarkable proof to our family of God's love for man.
Another time I had an operation. But a few years later the trouble returned. I couldn't get my arm down to my side—and there was also a pulling feeling in my lungs. At one point I nearly gave up hope, so I called a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. She invited me to study the twenty-third and ninety-first Psalms. The second of these includes this comforting passage (Ps. 91:10,11): "There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways." As a result of the practitioner's inspired prayer I was once again able to move my arm freely. I was healed.
Another healing, of asthma and hay fever, also came with the help of a practitioner. Immediately after our phone conversation I was able to sleep—and on one pillow instead of the two or three I had used for years. The practitioner encouraged me to affirm that God is my Life, and therefore no evil exists to have power over me. God alone has power, and it is only good. Recognizing the truth of these declarations brought the permanent healing.
