My first healing in Christian Science took place early in my life
My first healing in Christian Science took place early in my life. Delicate health and a case of eczema, considered incurable and supposedly inherited, haunted me. Hopes for the recovery of my health were dimmed by the prognosis of our family physician.
"The darkest hour precedes the dawn." This statement was literally fulfilled when a friend and neighbor loaned my mother a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. My mother began reading and studying the book in the evening, and she continued through the night long after we children were asleep. She later told me that her thought awakened to the truth of being as she read this passage (p. 211): "It should no longer be said in Israel that 'the fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge.' Sympathy with error should disappear. The transfer of the thoughts of one erring mind to another, Science renders impossible."
I woke the following morning healed. Gratitude and rejoicing marked the occasion on that Sunday morning more than sixty years ago! This healing was the turning point for me and the beginning of a happy, normal childhood and my way of life for over eighty years.
