Spiritual enlightenment destroys afflictive circumstances
God is infinite Love. This simple statement bases the Science of being, and from this base the perfection and purity of God's creation can be demonstrated by anyone. What a freeing truth!
But what about the afflictive circumstances that seem so real— the suffering and the sorrow? Catastrophes are no part of the spiritual universe, for they are no part of God. God's allness precludes evil of any kind. In the eternal harmony of Spirit's wholeness there is no disorder to mar man's perfection.
As we accept and begin to demonstrate scientific facts, we build a foundation for health, harmony, and progress. But material sense resists the Christ, Truth, even as it did in Jesus' day. Scholastic theology and false education perpetuate the belief that God is anthropomorphic and man a mortal. This belief leads to the false assumption that God is capable of afflicting His creation and that the man He made is a sinner, deserving punishment. The mere acceptance of such falsities is in itself afflictive.
