Revive the art of listening
Listening with spiritual understanding is the result of humble desire, vigilance, and a searching intelligence. This kind of listening needs daily cultivation. There is no mystery about it. Everyone can learn and practice it.
In one of my early jobs I was called in by a senior official. I remember being so eager to prove my alertness that when he paused in thought I blurted, "I've got it!"
"No you haven't," he said, "because I'm not finished yet!"
