Immortal expression, not mortal oppression
Immortal being is a state of expression—the manifestation of infinite Mind. Mortal existence is a state of oppression—the manifestation of a supposed, limited, restricted, personal mind. Spiritual expression is divine—reality. Mortal oppression is erring—unreality.
God is the foundation of reality, the All of being. He is the essence of true substance. God is Love, Mind, Life. He is ever-active consciousness, the infinite, the boundless cause of all existence. And man? "Man is the expression of God's being," Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 470; explains our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. When we understand God, then we begin to understand man. And as we truly see that God is All, that He is immortal, then we cannot avoid seeing that because man is the manifestation of God, man must be immortal.
Man's immortal nature gives him limitless expression—the evidence of all that God includes: joy and peace, wisdom, health, purity. This is the essence of man's being. He is the manifestation, the idea, of divine Mind. God is eternally made known through His measureless qualities. Man's individual identity is the representation of those qualities. And so man's existence, his purpose, is the activity of expression—the appearance of good. Being is expansive, unrestricted.
