How can I begin...?
How can I begin to tell you
What God means to me?
The constant rhythm of endless sea,
The croon of a cradlesong,
The flame with arc of color,
The silence of the moonflower—
These hint what God is like to me.
He means to me the timelessness of no beginning,
The agelessness of no ending.
I glimpse the glory of cosmic order—
The promise of eternity.
God is Mind, which charts the astral flight.
God is Spirit, tending light beyond the luminous star.
He is the Father-Mother, Love,
Who, in a Word, brought forth complete creation.
How can I begin to tell you
What God means to me—
Since He is All-in-all?
HARRIET I. ENGEL
