Christian healing—impelled by God
A Christian Science healing brings more than relief from suffering, even more than physical and moral restoration. It lights up fresh views of reality. Christian healing uniquely reveals, to some degree, real Life—God and His creation, including the whole family of man. This family actually remains forever perfect, its harmony undisturbed by any suggestion of discord. We can discern and experience this reality through prayer. A renaissance of thought, a cleansing baptism, a spiritual awakening, follow. This is to be born again.
Healing lifts mortals from discomfort to freedom, wrongdoing to rightdoing, sorrow to joy, lack to plenty. This healing and purification is based on the present perfection of God's man. In reality no one can be a step away from perfection. But mortals must awake to reality, to experience healing.
The prayerful process through which this Science systematically heals is sometimes called metaphysical treatment, since it is above matter-based reasoning. To treat the sick properly is to fulfill Christ Jesus' command to heal the sick (see Matt. 10:8). Treatment attunes us with a spiritual animus, the healing Christ, Truth, which Jesus himself so naturally and spontaneously drew upon.
